Indigo holds a distinctive place in India’s textile and cultural history, shaping craftsmanship, trade, and design for centuries. Yet as industrial processes evolve and traditional practices decline, the deeper knowledge systems around indigo risk being fragmented or forgotten.
Through the Indigo Museum initiative, supported by the Arvind Indigo Foundation, we seek to document, interpret, and advance the legacy of indigo. Conceived as a living laboratory of ideas and practice, the museum explores indigo’s historical significance while fostering innovation in design thinking, artistic collaboration, and sustainable material practices.
